Don't Hate '08, Hasay Diet

My daughter graduated from high school last year, in 2008, and their class motto was 'Don't Hate '08'. I thought to myself, what a nutty saying. Why would anyone hate 08? Was there something I was missing?

Well the same goes for the eighth week of the HASAY diet that Casey has organized. What's not to love? Each week she posts all our riveting stories of the progress (or lack thereof) on our individual attempts at losing weight. She gets on us (not literally) if we are slacking and complements us when we are doing well.

This week, I was sporadic in my eating and exercising. I hiked a difficult trail Saturday afternoon, then ate 'like a pig' and 'drank like a fish' at a really fun party that evening. Another day I ate healthy salads and grilled salmon but didn't exercise at all. My goal for this coming week is to be consistent for 7 days straight...starting tomorrow. I know, HA HA, Beth's being funny. No seriously, I cannot start today as I drank sooo much red wine at another really fun party last night, that my stomach is still queasy and maybe I'm still a little drunk (HADAY?). But I want to have some success and lose some weight.

One of the ladies I was talking to this weekend had had great success with a product called Alli, bought at Costco. Does anyone know about or have tried this product? If I hear good things from you, I may give it a try. But not today, I think I need to go lie down. The room is starting to spin........

Original HASAY diet weight: 135 pounds
Current weight: 131 pounds

I would so much rather join HADAY than HASAY. Then again, being hungover and still having to care for small children isn't the best idea.
I'm pretty sure we're all struggling right about now since the holidays are here and there is great food everywhere we look. Consistency is key but don't beat yourself up until Jan 1. I know, that doesn't sound like me but I've been slacking so I've got nothing backing up my smack talk.

At least you got to hike...it's cold and snowy here..I hate that! I wish it was warm enough to do fun outside activities besides skiing or freezing your butt off!

Well at least you've seen some weight loss. This holiday season is tough on willpower without a doubt. I've never tried Alli, but I believe it blocks the body from absorbing fat in foods or something like that. I read it had some weird side effects, but I might be thinking of a different product. Good luck this week.

Red wine sounds SO good right now. Yumm!

Good luck with being consistent - that's what I strive to improve - almost daily.
I have never tried Ali myself, and Mrs. Bear is right - it basically blocks your body from absorbing the fat in food. So, what that means is that you have to be very diciplined when your on it and eat a low fat food - if you eat high fat foods while using Ali your body will not absorb the fat and, well, let's just suffice it to say that the fat has to come out of your body one way or the other. Get my drift?

With that said I have had some friends experience some success on it - but they were very diciplined while using it so that they avoided the yucky side effects.

I've known people who've had success with Alli and people who have had really "crappy" side effects (wink wink, nudge nudge). But hey, maybe if it gets the job done it's worth a shot. Why don't you give it a try and let us know how it goes!

Does anyone else think that's hysterical that I am getting advise on Alli from Ali-Pants?!

I just did the Hcg diet. It's fabulous. I lost over 6 inches and 8 pounds in 2 weeks. I sound like an info commercial, don't I? You take a hormone injection each day and eat only 500 calories from a very specific list of foods. I know it sounds crazy but it works and you only lose fat, not muscle or water. The hormone occurs naturally in pregnant women. If a pregnant woman was starving, the hormone would kick in and feed the fetus utilizing fat reserves. SO..if there's no fetus, you just lose the fat. The hormone is FDA approved (not that that means jack to me..the FDA approves anything in my opinion)but not for weight loss. You really aren't hungry and you have plenty of energy as you are living on thousands of calories (from your fat) a day. I would totally recommend this diet to anyone. I can give you the name of my naturopath if you are interested.
